Planning your money in advance is the gift that gives all month long.
It is definitely THE secret to success.
Why is that… you might ask?
Because it’s really powerful when you plan what you are going to spend on purpose, instead of spending on autopilot and following every urge and desire that comes up.
This skill is so essential because it teaches us how to plan ahead, spend mindfully, and gain the confidence that we are in control of how much we spend and the results that we create.
Our brains love certainty and planning helps create that!
When you have a plan for the month (a budget), it’s sitting there with the best version of you in mind.
You don’t have to have daily negotiations with yourself or your spouse about what you are going to spend.
As you learn to stick to it, you build trust with yourself.
Now if you find yourself wanting to deviate from your plan, you may be emotionally spending.
This is when we buy things in order to feel better.
Remind yourself that you made the plan with your best interest in mind and then get curious about what you are thinking and feeling.
Ask yourself why are you wanting to buy something that is not on your plan (if it’s not a need)?
This give you a pause to say “yes” to the plan or “no” and figure out why you don’t want to stick to it.
